Hook: Nymph, 3X Long, Size 4-10

Thread: Black, 3/0 or to match rabbit strip

Tail: Zonker cut rabbit strip, (color to match body)

Tail Option: 6-8 strands of Krystal Flash

Body: Cross cut rabbit strip

Head: Pewter colored cone head, 2 strands of black ostrich herl

Tying Instructions:

1. Slide the cone head on the hook.
2. Lay down thread foundation.
3. Take a short piece of zonker strip and on the end where the hair extends past the hide, trim the hide to a point.
4, Place the strip on top of the hook (fur side to the hook, removing the hair at the tie-in position) and extending the pointed end half the shank length passed the hook bend.
5. After tying in the tail, add the Krystal Flash on top.
6. In the middle of the hook shank, tie in a length of crosscut rabbit strip with the fur side on top and pointing toward the rear of the hook.
7. With tension on the strip, rotate the vise and palmer the strip toward the hook eye. When reaching the cone, divide the hair at the tie-off point and secure with several wraps. Cut the excess strip off.
8. Tie in two ostrich herls behind the cone and palmer. Secure the herl and cement the wraps.

Member's Comments:

Rabbit fur streamers are lively in the water, very durable and easy to tie. There are two kinds of fur strips, straight cut zonker strips and cross cut strips. The latter being used for wrapping (palmering) around the hook shank. When stripped through the water, rabbit fur streamers flare and pulsate, making them irresistible to the fish.
