| This is the Long Island Flyrodders trip of the year. There is great fishing, easy wading, and many other activities for you and your non-fishing partner. The Allenberry Inn is about 225 miles from New York. The Allenberry Inn, portions of which date back to 1812, is a refurbished facility on the Yellow Breeches Creek. At this time LIFR has rooms available in (a) The Stone Lodge, an 1812 carriage house (some rooms have king size beds, others have two beds), (b) an adjacent Cottage with three bedrooms (good for 6 bachelors), (c) the Hillside Lodge, and (d) deluxe rooms in the Mansion House, right on the river. We urge that you make immediate reservations directly, the Allenberry is much in demand, especially during the white fly hatch. The LIFR weekend of August 18-21, 2000 should be at the peak of the white fly season. The White Flies do not bite, and the trout find them delicious ... fabulous fishing. The Allenberry is on the Yellow Breeches; you walk from your room to the river. The layout of the beautiful 57 acre grounds of the Allenberry permits spectators front row seats to some of the fishing action. On the grounds of the Allenberry are: Olympic size swimming pool with an adjacent Jacuzzi, Har-Tru tennis courts, pubs, The Carriage Room Restaurant, and RNG and Granary Lounges, a Cabaret, and the Allenberry Playhouse (a very good summer stock theater performed by members of Actors Equity). Nearby are three (3) golf courses, many other restaurants, Amish Country, antiques, car show, and the cities of: Gettysburg, Hershey, and Harrisburg. The area is upscale, with all homes and stores well maintained. The prices for the Long Island Flyrodders weekend will depend on your choices. The rooms will cost $295.00 for double occupancy for three nights. Please contact Leslie Sterner directly (800 324-8716) for room reservations. Ask Leslie about special rates for children in your room. You may add, per person: a dinner package for $22* per dinner; a breakfast package for $10* per breakfast; "The Music Man" equity summer stock for Saturday night for $22* per reserved seat (*plus 6% tax and gratuity). Guides are recommended especially if you havent fished the area before. Contact Tom Baltz 717 486-7438. If a non-member wishes to attend, for insurance purposes, we require that each sign a LIFR application and pay our $25.00 membership fee. Family members may attend by upgrading a single membership to "Family Membership" for $10.00. |
