L.I. Flyrodders Rules for fishing Connetquot Park:

It is a privilege for the club to fish in the park on Mondays, and we could lose these privileges if the members break any of the rules listed below:

1a You must have a current NY fishing license and be a current paid up member.

1b. All anglers must have RUBBER SOLED HIP BOOTS ONLY. No felt soles or chest waders will be allowed.

2.  February and March are CATCH & RELEASE only fishing. Fish must be released promptly and properly; with a minimum amount of handling. When possible, keep fish in water during release.

3. Only barbless flies can be used; NO bait or fish scents are allowed.  NO lead weights or lead-eye flies nor lead braided leaders. NO egg pattterns.  Sink tip lines and Orvis 6’ sink tips are permitted.

4.  After TWO fish are killed and bagged you MUST stop fishing.  No injured fish are to be released; Fish must be creeled; NO stringers or net bags are allowed.

5.   Speed limits in the park are set at 15 mph; if this rule is violated ALL members will have to park at the front entrance and walk to the sites, young and old alike.

6.   Sessions  run from 8:00 AM to 12:00  and 1:00 to 5:00 PM ; No fishing before or after.  Anyone caught fishing after 5:00 will be fined $15.00 and will be suspended till the fine is paid.

7.  There are no designated beats assigned to anyone; fishermen are expected to move throughout the park, allowing for other members to fish different beats.  If you have been in a beat for 30 minutes or more and are approached by another member you should offer to surrender the water and move on to another spot.  If any one member is observed dominating one spot they will be put on report.

8.    Members are expected to observe all rules as stated and police each other, as any infractions will reflect on the club as a whole and cause us to lose our Monday privileges.

9. Anyone paying their fee at the park must have exact change.  No checks will be accepted.

10.  Anglers must use 4 weight or heavier rods according to club rules.

  11. * In reference to Rule # 7 : If the members disobey this rule we have no choice but to initiate putting beats #1 to #32 in a can and distributing them lottery style; i.e. you  will pick your beat out of the can and remain there for the entire session.  Any member showing up to fish that has not paid in advance and has not called Sunday to confirm their reservation will not be permitted to fish on Monday.  If you have any further questions please call Lee Weil at (516) 997-6743.
