DEERFIELD RIVER TRIP

Camping and Fly Fishing Trip

When: Friday June 13 to Sunday June 15, 2008 (please note: this is Fathers’ Day weekend).

Cost per person: 
$60. includes campsite, breakfast on Saturday and Sunday, dinner on Friday. Dinner on Saturday evening will be at the Charlemont Inn for an additional expense of approximately $25. 

Anyone interested in joining this trip must submit $60. for each person attending no later than March 4, 2008. All attendees must be current and paid-up members of the Long Island Flyrodders.

Fishing License: 
A 3 day non-resident fishing license must be purchased on line at www.sport.state.ma.us prior to trip

General Information: 
Destination is approx. 4 hours from Hicksville.
There are two catch and release areas on the Deerfield River. The entire river is stocked annually throughout the early spring and summer with rainbows and there are native brook trout, also.

Suggested flies: 
Dry: Adams 12-24, parachute Adams 12-24, hendrickson and Wulffs. 
Streamers: Mickey Finn, wooly bugger (olive and black) 2-8.
Black stoneflies, hellgrammite
Nymphs: hare’s ear, bead head pheasant tail 10-14

Gear: 
5 wgt rod with a floating line will serve you well. A nine foot leader tapered to about 5X and tippet as light as 8X are recommended.
Waders, felt sole boots, fishing staff, polarized sunglasses, wading belt are necessary
