GREAT LAKES TRIP
(INCLUDING OAK ORCHARD)

OCTOBER 26 TO OCTOBER 30, 2009

We will be fishing with guides from Reel Action Fly fishing . for steelhead in Lake Erie tributaries( probably Cattaraugus Creek in the Seneca Indian reservation) on Tuesday and Wednesday after driving up to Fredonia on Monday.

If we fish on the reservation, we will have to purchase a license from the Senecas. It is reasonable, especially if you are a “senior”.

On Thursday, and possibly Friday morning, we then will be fishing for King (Chinook) salmon, lake -run brown trout and steelhead in Oak Orchard Creek, which is a tributary of Lake Ontario near Albion New York

Make sure you have a valid New York State fishing license!

FISHING PLAN
Monday, meet at the Day’s Inn for supper. Guides will let us know when and where to meet them Tuesday morning. Same for Wednesday.
Drive to Dollinger’s in Albion after fishing on Wednesday. Meet for supper.

Thursday, plan on spending the whole day on the Oak. We will be leaving the motel promptly at 5AM and we will race to the site in order to secure adjoining spots so we can control a section. We will rotate spots during the day with each other. Fishing can begin at dawn, a little after 7:00 AM. The Archery club, located where we will be fishing, serves breakfast and lunch. They also have decent toilet facilities.

Friday AM.- On your own at the Oak or leave for home.

MEETING TIMES

Tuesday and Wednesday mornings: To be determined based on when and where the guides tell us to meet them.

Thursday at 5 AM outside motel for drive to the Oak.

Friday - On your own.

TRIP RESERVATIONS
Al Battistelli is the trip leader and will be taking names and money. A non re-fundable deposit of $25 is required by the August meeting to secure your spot and to cover the cost for trip souvenir apparel and possibly a group donation to the St. Mary’s club.

The trip will be strictly limited to 12 paid-up LIFR members. The first ones to sign up and pay up.

The guided trips for the group will be on Tuesday and Wednesday. Cost of a guided trip should be about $180 per person per day. (Plus tip). This is a FULL day trip and includes lunch and a CD of all the photos of your trip(s) which the guides will take and then burn the CD for you at the end of the last trip.

As soon as the info is available, you will be told how much of a deposit is required for the guides and when it has to be paid.
