Montana 2006
In 2006, three groups of Long Island Flyrodders traveled to Missoula, Montana, where they fished the four major rivers in the area (the Clarks Fork, Bitterroot, Blackfoot and Rock Creek) as well as Georgetown Lake a body of water that yields large rainbows.
Members Larry Fannin, Matt Handleman and Peter Van Buskirk opted to go in early June so that they could catch the legendary Montana salmon fly hatch.
Alan Manz, John Manz, Uncle Joe and Bruce Krabel went in July when the hatches are most varied and prolific.
Gil Padovani, Cliff Dies, Danny Van Buskirk and Morty Schneiderman went in early September when the tricos emerge in the morning and terrestrials are the norm in the afternoon.
As in the past, we fished both on our own and on guided float trips. Also, as in the past, our guides were from "Blackfoot River Outfitters".
