We will be fishing for brown trout and Chinook salmon in Oak Orchard Creek, which is a tributary of Lake Ontario. These fish spawn from late September to early November. You may even get lucky and catch steelhead and rainbow trout, which generally spawn later during the winter months. "The brown trout are what Oak Orchard is famous for and the area is likened to a poor man's Patagonia."

Plan on spending the whole day on the Oak. We will be leaving the motel promptly at 5AM [Friday and Saturday] and we will race to the site in order to secure adjoining spots so we can control a section. If a spot turns out to be prime, we’ll rotate in and out to let everyone catch a “big” one. Fishing can begin at dawn – a little after 7am.
The archery club serves breakfast and lunch for donations. They also have toilet facilities. On Saturday afternoon, the club will be having their fall game dinner starting at noon at a cost of $10. Beer is included.
