| We will be fishing for brown trout and salmon in Oak Orchard Creek, which is a tributary of Lake Ontario. “The brown trout are what Oak Orchard is famous for and the area is likened to a poor man’s Patagonia.” We will also have a guided trip on Cattaraugus Creek for steelhead and other area streams for browns. Guided trip cost to be determined. THE OAK TRIP WILL BE LIMITED TO 12 AND THE CATTARAUGUS TRIP TO 8. To Oak Orchard Creek – We will be fishing from the St. Mary’s Archery Club property. We will lead you to the site, but in case you want to go on your own … Take route 98 north out of Albion and bear left onto route 279. Continue to the end over the lake and turn right. Turn right again at Clark Mills Road [the first street sign]. Continue along the winding dirt road through a cluster of houses. Turn right into the St. Mary’s Archery Club property and proceed down the hill and park on your right. Fishing plan: (early arrivers fish on your own; follow directions above to the Oak) Thursday: Guided all day trip with Reel Action Fly Fishing. Will drive to Cattaraugus Creek and other local streams. Additional fishing license will be required to fish on the Indian reservation. Guided Trip cost TBD. Friday and Saturday: Plan on spending the entire day on the Oak. We will be leaving the motel promptly at 5AM on Friday and Saturday. Fishing can begin at dawn – a little after 7am.
